How to do Butt Kicks

StandingFlowing movementBeginner

Butt Kicks is a standing flowing stretch for your ankles, calves and core.

Step by step

  1. 1Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, and bring your hands up in loose fists by your chest.
  2. 2Start a gentle jog on the spot.

What you should feel

Stay light on the balls of your feet.

Form tips

  • Knees point down, not forward. Stay on the balls of your feet. Arms move with the rhythm.
  • Let your breath find its own pace.
  • Feel the fronts of your thighs warming.

Make it easier

If your knees or ankles are sensitive, march and lift your heels slowly.

Coming out of it

Let it slow down… to a walk… and stillness.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.

Do Butt Kicks with a coach

In BendEase, a voice coach talks you into Butt Kicks, cues you through the hold, while the guided video shows you exactly how. It's built into routines for your ankles and calves.
