How to do Seated Twist
On the floorHoldBoth sidesIntermediate
Seated Twist is a on the floor stretch for your chest, glutes and hips. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Sit with your legs out long.
- 2Bend your right knee and plant your foot.
- 3Right hand on the floor behind you, left elbow outside your right knee, and turn to the right.
What you should feel
Grow a little taller on each breath in.
Form tips
- Press the right hand down to lift the chest. Rotate from the ribs, not the neck. Inhale to lengthen, exhale to turn.
- On each breath out… turn a little more, only if it's easy.
- Feel the gentle wringing through your back.
Make it easier
If your back is sensitive, just hug your right knee instead of hooking the elbow.
Coming out of it
On your next exhale… slowly unwind… and stretch your legs out.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
