How to do Leaning Calf

StandingHoldBoth sidesIntermediate

Leaning Calf is a standing stretch for your calves, feet and hamstrings. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Stand facing a wall, about an arm's length away.
  2. 2Place your hands on the wall at shoulder height and shoulder-width apart.
  3. 3Step one foot back, keeping your toes forward and heel down.
  4. 4Bend your front knee while keeping your back leg straight.
  5. 5Push into the wall to deepen the stretch.

What you should feel

Feel the back of your left calf slowly open.

Form tips

  • Keep your back leg straight for a better stretch. Maintain a neutral spine throughout.
  • Let your shoulders stay soft.
  • No pushing… just leaning.

Make it easier

If your calf feels tight, step your left foot a little closer to the wall.

Coming out of it

Slowly step your back foot in… and stand tall.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
