How to do Half Moon
StandingHoldBoth sidesIntermediate
Half Moon is a standing stretch for your chest, glutes and hamstrings. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand tall and shift your weight onto your left foot.
- 2Lift your right leg out to the side, and let your body tip left like a seesaw.
- 3Reach your right arm up.
What you should feel
Let your left hand hang toward the floor.
Form tips
- Right leg at hip height, foot flexed. Stack the right hip over the left. Reach up and down at the same time.
- Feel the long line from your right fingers to your right toes.
- Steady gaze… steady breath.
Make it easier
Rest a hand on a chair or wall, or keep your lifted leg low.
Coming out of it
Gently lower your leg… bring your arms down… and stand tall.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
