How to do Single Leg Stand

StandingHoldBoth sidesAdvanced

Single Leg Stand is a standing stretch for your feet and ankles. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Stand with feet hip-width apart and hands on hips.
  2. 2Engage your core.
  3. 3Lift one foot off the floor and extend it in front of you.
  4. 4Balance on your standing leg and hold.

What you should feel

Feel your left foot spread on the floor.

Form tips

  • Keep your standing leg slightly bent.
  • A small wobble is fine.
  • Stay tall… and soft.

Make it easier

Keep your right foot lower, close to the floor, for more balance.

Coming out of it

Slowly lower your foot… and stand on both feet.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.

Do Single Leg Stand with a coach

In BendEase, a voice coach talks you into Single Leg Stand, cues you through the hold and tells you when to switch sides, while the guided video shows you exactly how. It's built into routines for your feet and ankles.
