How to do Seated One Arm Hug

SeatedHoldBoth sidesBeginner

Seated One Arm Hug is a seated stretch for your lats, shoulders and triceps. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Sit nice and tall.
  2. 2Bring your right arm straight across your chest then hook your left arm around it and gently hug it in toward you.

What you should feel

Keep your right shoulder low.

Form tips

  • Keep the right shoulder away from the ear. Chest stays square, don't twist with it. Feel the back of the right shoulder open.
  • No pulling hard… just a gentle hug.
  • Feel the back of your right shoulder slowly open.

Make it easier

If your shoulder is tender, hold your arm lower, closer to your chest.

Coming out of it

Gently release your arm… and let both arms rest down by your sides.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
