How to do Low Side Lunge

StandingHoldBoth sidesBeginner

Low Side Lunge is a standing stretch for your groin, calves and hips. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Stand with your feet wide apart.
  2. 2Shift your weight to one side, bending that knee while keeping the other leg straight.
  3. 3Place your hands on the floor and lower your hips until you feel a stretch in your inner thigh.
  4. 4Rotate the foot of your straight leg so the heel stays down and toes point out.

What you should feel

Feel the stretch along the inside of your left leg.

Form tips

  • Keep your chest lifted and back straight throughout the stretch.
  • Let your breath slow down.
  • Only as low as is comfortable today.

Make it easier

If your hands don't reach the floor, rest them on a block or a chair.

Coming out of it

Press gently into your hands… and slowly rise back up to standing.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
